Smartphone Use an Indication of Wealth?

April 2, 2012 by noemi

Blackberry
I would never really have thought about it, but a Reuters article got me thinking. ((Source: Reuters)) A study was conducted by The Luxury Institute, with the goal of finding out how wealthy consumers used their smartphones. In other words, they studied the app usage among the members of this sector.

The conclusion? Wealthy people tend to use their smartphones more for apps geared towards finance, travel, and news. They do not seem to have a proclivity for social apps like Twitter or for gaming apps. [Read more…] about Smartphone Use an Indication of Wealth?

Fake Apple Products Look Eerily Real

February 24, 2012 by Amanda DiSilvestro

Earlier today The New York Times reported that more and more people are selling fake Apple products in the hopes of making a quick buck. This was first discovered when a police officer came across someone selling what looked exactly like an IPhone. It had what looked like the correct box, and it was being sold for a great price of $150 (although not too great as to seem suspicious). Naturally the police officer assumed someone was selling an IPhone, and the lack of a vendor’s license was the only cause of concern. However, it wasn’t long before police discovered that the IPhone was a fake.

Temple Run for Android Still in the Works

February 21, 2012 by noemi

Temple Run for iOS
Temple Run
The discussion about Android versus iOS has been going on for a long time now, and it still is not over. The Internet is vast with an Android Market here and an Android market there. This perhaps has contributed to its explosive growth. Still, one can’t deny that it seems that a lot of developers first focus on creating new apps for iOS, with Android users having to wait for a while.

On the other hand, with the number of Android devices swimming out there, one also cannot discount the fact that there are more users. More so, practically all the basic things that you want to do, you can do with an Android device. For example, if need to know how to make gifs, there certainly is an Android app for that.

When it comes to some games, though, Android users have to be a little more patient. And yes, I am talking about Temple Run. [Read more…] about Temple Run for Android Still in the Works

Windows Phone Marketplace Hits 50,000 Milestone

Windows Phone Marketplace

Just in case there are some of you who have a Windows Phone…I think I am not wrong in assuming that. The Windows Phone Marketplace is what the Android Market is to Android phones and the iTunes App Store is to iOS devices. So the news is that the Windows Phone Marketplace has now reached a milestone, that of 50,000 apps.

If you do not think about any other platform, 50,000 is not a small number. Then again, with the explosion of mobile devices these days, this figure may be a milestone for the Windows Phone Marketplace but it is still lagging behind the two other major platforms. Goop City by Gwyneth Paltrow
Goop City

Truth be told, I couldn’t care less about Gwyneth Paltrow. Okay, she made for an awesome Pepper Potts in the Iron Man movies. I especially love how she delivered that line about occasionally taking the trash out. But for the rest, I can’t really be bothered.

So why am I posting about Gwyneth Paltrow having an app up in the iTunes Store? Because it is so ridiculous! [Read more…] about Gwyneth Paltrow’s Got an App: Goop City
