Are You Ready for the Sharepocalypse?

August 14, 2023 by noemi

Social SitesI don’t know about you, but I think this whole thing about using -calypse as a suffix is getting old. Still, I couldn’t stop myself from digging deeper when I encountered the term “sharepocalypse”.

I don’t know where the term originated, but I first saw it in an article written by Nova Spivack, which was published by Mashable. The idea is very simple and not surprising at all: “In the Sharepocalypse hundreds (if not thousands) of online friends share content with us across various social networks, culminating in massive information overload. Our lives will become more fragmented, we will lose productivity, and we’ll perpetually be playing catch up.” ((Article))

Think about it. How many social network accounts do you have? In how many of these networks are you active? Let’s be more specific, when you update your status and/or post links/photos, how many platforms do you use for the same content? [Read more…] about Are You Ready for the Sharepocalypse?

Need Fuel? How About Some Wine and Cheese?

Owning a car means a lot of things to different people. For some, a car is simply a means to get around when public transportation does not cut it. For others, it is a statement. Having a car that catches the attention of other people is important. Whatever a car means to you, you will probably agree with all the other car owners in the world on one thing: fueling up is getting darned expensive!

I don’t know if you still remember the days when a gallon (or a liter) of fuel was affordable. These days, the prices just seem to go higher and higher, with a little bit of respite every now and then. The future looks bleak when it comes to conventional fuel, but it seems that bright minds are busy trying to make sure that alternative fuel sources are going to be available to the average person tomorrow. Need Electrical Juice? Walk More!

Woman Walking with Cellphone

How often do you have to charge your smartphone? I think I mentioned some time ago that ever since I switched to the iPhone 4, I have had to charge my mobile phone every day. Comparing this to the every other day (sometimes every three days) charging I had to do with my Nokia E63, it does seem excessive. However, if you think about what one normally does with the iPhone (not to mention 3G or Wi-Fi always on), the once a day charging system does make sense.

Having access to electrical juice is something that the modern person has to deal with on a daily basis. As such, researchers are also on the ball as to figuring out how to make batteries last longer and how to provide consumers with more power. [Read more…] about Need Electrical Juice? Walk More!

Droid Robot Font: The Only Font You’ll Want This Week

I am not knowledgable when it comes to fonts. You’re talking to the girl who used to use Comic Sans as the default font in her company e-mails! (Typophiles, don’t get a heart attack, okay?) I do know, however, how to recognize a fun font that will make your days at work more enjoyable. It doesn’t mean you have to use the font for official correspondence, but I am pretty sure you can find a lot of other uses for it.

So what font am I talking about? The Droid Robot Font. The font that will get Android lovers all worked up, I assume. I don’t even have an Android device, but I still think that this font is cool! Take a look up there again. [Read more…] about Droid Robot Font: The Only Font You’ll Want This Week

Looking for a One-Night Stand? There’s an App for That!

As if having a web site allowing only beautiful people to become members weren’t good enough, someone just had to create an app for singles who are “willing” – whatever that means. There is now an app available in Australia, the United States, and the United Kingdom which allows singles to find other singles in their area. It doesn’t stop at the idea of being single, though. The main goal is for the app to replace the need to go bar hopping to find someone to take home with you at night. Or at least make the experience easier, thanks to technology.
