Are You Always Connected?

August 15, 2023 by noemi

So how much do you spend your time using technology and the gadgets that you have? Before you even answer that, you might as well mentally list down the devices that you use on a daily basis.

Mobile phone? Check.
Laptop/Computer? Check.
Mp3 player? Check.
Tablet? Check. (Maybe.)

Did I miss anything else? I guess that the average person would have at least two of those four devices. Some may have devices that have multiple functions. Whatever the case may be, I am willing to bet that you will be able to relate to the statistics shown in the infographic that Online Schools has created. ((OnlineSchools)) Yup, it’s all about being connected, wired, or whatever you want to call it. [Read more…] about Are You Always Connected?

Are You Ready for the Sharepocalypse?

August 14, 2023 by noemi

Social SitesI don’t know about you, but I think this whole thing about using -calypse as a suffix is getting old. Still, I couldn’t stop myself from digging deeper when I encountered the term “sharepocalypse”.

I don’t know where the term originated, but I first saw it in an article written by Nova Spivack, which was published by Mashable. The idea is very simple and not surprising at all: “In the Sharepocalypse hundreds (if not thousands) of online friends share content with us across various social networks, culminating in massive information overload. Our lives will become more fragmented, we will lose productivity, and we’ll perpetually be playing catch up.” ((Article))

Think about it. How many social network accounts do you have? In how many of these networks are you active? Let’s be more specific, when you update your status and/or post links/photos, how many platforms do you use for the same content? [Read more…] about Are You Ready for the Sharepocalypse?

Are you on Twitter? I do have a lot of friends who are not really into Twitter, and they probably have good reasons for not creating an account (or maybe having an account but not logging in). Then again, being one of the biggest platforms today, Twitter is probably useful for something, don’t you think?

I ran across an infographic that will give you a geekgasm if you are into stats. Numbers, facts, and figures – you now how something to enjoy during your break this afternoon! Created by Touch, an agency offering diverse marketing solutions, the infographic puts together a lot of data in a package that is more easily digested. ((Source)) What else can be expected of a marketing agency, right?

Seriously, there are some interesting tidbits to be found in this infographic. If you are the average user, you may not find much practical use for these figures – except to satisfy the stat geek in you. However, I online marketers might just find a use or two for this information. [Read more…] about Twitter Facts and Figures for the Stat Geek

What do social media networks and superheroes have in common? You might not be able to give an answer off the top of your head, but after reading this post, you definitely will have something witty to say.

The guys at Freestyle Interactive ((Source)), a digital marketing group based out of the United Kingdom, have come up with an interesting infographic. Obviously, they know a thing or two about social media networks (or at least they are supposed to), and it seems that they also have a thing about superheroes. Then again, who doesn’t? Shark Week 2011: Status of the Shark

August 10, 2023 by noemi

Did you know that…

  • …sharks have tooth-shaped scales called denticles, and that these allow the sharks to move faster and more smoothly in the water? The denticles also prevent the algae and barnacles from accumulating on the shark’s skin.
  • …a female shark can get pregnant without ever touching a male shark? This is called parthenogenesis. Only very few cases of parthenogenesis have been documented, though.
  • …the eating habits of sharks are affected strongly by the ocean tides. Depending on the phase of the moon, sharks move closer to the shore to catch their prey.
  • …there is a tiny shark species that is a mere 8 inches (20 centimeters) long? Pygmy sharks are among the tiniest in their family and they can produce their own light to help them hunt in deep waters.
