What Kind of Social Gamer Are You?

September 11, 2012 by noemi

The landscape of video games has drastically changed in the past few years, thanks largely to the prevalence of social networking. There are, of course, other factors, but one cannot deny that the rise of social networking has greatly impacted the way people play games.

While it used to be that video games catered to a very specific niche, now everyone – from age 2 to 92 – plays games in one form or another.

Social gaming – and social gamer – has become a commonly used terms these days, with good reason. [Read more…] about What Kind of Social Gamer Are You?

World’s Largest QR Code

I dare say QR codes have not gone totally mainstream, although their popularity continues to be on the rise. Only recently, I found out that some people I know personally have created QR codes containing information that is usually transmitted via vCard. Obviously, I am not there yet, but it is certainly a convenient way of sharing your contact details with others, especially with how prevalent smartphones are these days. Additionally, we’ve heard of QR code tattoos – even QR code tombstones!

There is nothing quite like the world’s largest QR code, though, and not only because of its size. [Read more…] about World’s Largest QR Code

Gold-plated computer

Computers are not always pretty things. Just take a look at some of the more common desktops and laptops at the lower price range, and you will not be able to deny that they are not the most visually appealing gadgets in the market.

It is a whole new story if we talk about Apple computers. Now that is what we call beautiful. Ask other manufacturers – they’ve already made great strides in trying to keep up with Jony Ive and his design prowess.

However, it might just be that Apple has nothing on Georges Chirita, a French designer. His specialty is to create computers and related gadgets that are fit for royalty, a gold-plated computer being one of the more eye catching ones. Patrick Priebe. Remember that name if you are a weapons lover, for this guy has some of the most amazing creations.

One of his most recent weapons is the Gauss Rifle, which is supposed to derive inspiration from Crysis 2, a first-person shooter game from EA. Whether you have played the game or not, you can just imagine the array of weapons available that will get any gamer (who also has a fixation on guns) excited. Smartest People: Just How Smart Is Smart?

10 Smartest People Alive Today
Forrest Gump’s mom is known for one of the smartest quotes ever: “Stupid is as stupid does.”

The label I used may be arguable, but there is some truth to that saying, isn’t there? After all, how many “smart” people do you know who don’t seem to get their act together? And how many “stupid” people do you know who are well-loved by everyone who knows them?

Still, those who’ve got the smarts deserve admiration and respect – recognition at the very least. The guys at Super Scholar threw some ideas, numbers, and facts together to come up with the 10 smartest people alive today. For sure, you can rattle off a couple of names off the top of your head, but why not check the infographic out to see if you have the same people? ClassDojo: Classroom Management Gamification

Education Apps
ClassDojo

The teaching profession is largely understated, in my opinion. Perhaps that has something to do with the fact that I come from a family of educators, but even those who may not have been exposed to this side of education will find it hard to deny the fact that what teachers do is not an easy task.

More than imparting knowledge to their students, teachers also have to deal with other tasks. Among these tasks, classroom management is high up the list. It’s basically being able to handle the class as a group and as individuals and being able to encourage proper behavior. Call it crowd control in an educational setting.

This is what the app ClassDojo aims to address by providing rewards to students who exhibit good behavior.
