Social Networks Linked to Socially Aggressive Narcissism

Socially Aggressive Narcissism
Too Many Facebook Friends?

So much has been said about Facebook – both negative and positive; and perhaps if we take a close look, we will see more whining than praising. No one can deny that the social network has thrived over the years. And it is not alone. More and more, we see social networks expanding their reach and gathering more active users.

Various theories have been created to explain this boom, not to mention studies conducted to determine the effects of social networks on people who use them a lot. If you are not sick of these kinds of studies, here is something that might interest you: a study showing a link between social networks and socially aggressive narcissism. InstaCover: When Instagram and Facebook Cover Photo Collide

Customize Facebook Cover Photo
InstaCover

The new Facebook Timeline has gotten the attention of countless users from all over the world for various reasons. One the one hand, some people loved the new layout. On the other hand, some users dreaded having to switch to the new look without being given the option of retaining the old. There are, of course, those who simply couldn’t care less.

Wherever you lie in the spectrum, it does not really matter if you want to continue using Facebook. Everyone will eventually get the Timeline. For what it’s worth, I am one of those who still have the old look. In the beginning, I really didn’t like the idea of having to switch. At this point, it does not really matter to me. What I am thinking is that one might as well take advantage of what the new layout has to offer.

And when it comes to that, the cover photo is one of the things that you can play around with. I have seen many awesome cover photos, and while I am not all worked up about that, it is easy to see how one can play around with customization. Eye candy for the win! Facebook Linked to Lower GPA?

Facebook leads to lower GPA
Facebook leads to lower GPA?

So is Facebook linked to lower GPA? I don’t think that you need to be a rocket scientist to figure out that being on Facebook – or any other social network for that matter – while studying might just be a distraction that can lead to lower grades. Before there was Facebook, there was text messaging. Before that, there was long chats on the phone with friends. I think that it all boils down to one thing: multitasking. Employers Prefer Facebook to IQ Tests

Facebook vs IQ Test

So you think your Facebook is locked down to the point that your employer (current and prospective) will not have access to your life. This issue has long been raised and discussed, with people making sure that “incriminating” photos are not accessible to those who are not supposed to see them. Of course, there will always be loopholes. And it really is not all about photos anymore.

With the way things are going, it seems that employers now prefer Facebook to IQ tests in evaluating employees! [Read more…] about Employers Prefer Facebook to IQ Tests

Social Media Cheat Sheet
The Small Business Social Media Cheat Sheet

When was the last time you used a cheat sheet? I still remember the days in university when professors allowed cheat sheets during exams. We were ecstatic, only to realize that the problems in the exam were practically unsolvable if you only relied on the cheat sheet.

When it comes to the “real world” of business, there is also such a thing as a cheat sheet. With all the different developments in business and technology, it is only to be expected. The guys at Flowtown have come up with an infographic that can serve as a quick guide for small business owners when it comes to social media. Get a Facebook Girl Friend for USD5

Virtual Girlfriend
Facebook Girlfriend

Will it ever end? I mean the need to show the world – at least your world – that you have a girl friend, or a boy friend for that matter? Some time last year, we heard about Cloud Girl Friend, the automated system which can give you a virtual girlfriend so that you won’t come off as lonely on Facebook.

While it did seem that the service held some promise – after all, there is a huge market for a Facebook girl friend, I suppose – Cloud Girl Friend did not really fly. The main reason for this is that Facebook has a ban on computer-controlled accounts, which is rather understandable. [Read more…] about Get a Facebook Girl Friend for USD5
