Confirming news that first broke last month, a little over an hour ago, a post on Instagram’s blog revealed that the photo-sharing social network owned by Facebook would soon be rolling out advertisements in its users feeds. Here’s the meat of the…
Everyone knows by now that Facebook owns Instagram. Launched in October of 2010, the free photo-sharing cum social networking platform quickly rose in popularity, in spite of the fact that it was initially limited to iOS devices. (Or maybe because of that fact as well?) In any case, when it was released for Android, Instagram got even more popular, with everyone and their mom suddenly transforming into budding photographers.
The story of Instagram does not stop there. Early this year, the social network we all love and hate made moves to acquire Instagram. It stated its desire, made known its plans for Instagram to continue being independently managed, the FTC did its thing, and in September of this year, Instagram officially became part of the Facebook family.
The Internet has been called many things, but I am sure that “ultimate time waster” will be at the top of the most frequently used adjectives for this wonderful thing that can make anyone an expert with some clicking and a few hours of reading. Then again, what is wasted time for one person may very well be a brilliant learning experience for another. It’s all in the perspective, yes?
And if you are the type who believes that experiencing beauty is a worthwhile experience no matter what, you will not mind wasting your time on “This Is Now”, a web site that jumps into the Instagram bandwagon, but in a way that goes beyond what others have done.
Since it was launched in October of 2010, Instagram has become a household name. Even though the app was originally created for only iOS devices, it was still able to achieve a wide reach. Of course, when the company decided to expand and enter the Android market, the users of Instagram exploded.
Naturally, there are the haters. There will always be haters. They can say all sorts of negative things about Instagram, its filters, its users, and so on, but no one can really deny that the app is fun, right?
Obviously, I am an Instagram user, albeit not a very regular one. I have it installed on both the iPhone and the iPad, but I just seem to suck at timing, so often, I miss out on good photo opportunities.
In any case, if you are an Instagrammer, you would love this discovery: Insta-WP.
The new Facebook Timeline has gotten the attention of countless users from all over the world for various reasons. One the one hand, some people loved the new layout. On the other hand, some users dreaded having to switch to the new look without being given the option of retaining the old. There are, of course, those who simply couldn’t care less.
Wherever you lie in the spectrum, it does not really matter if you want to continue using Facebook. Everyone will eventually get the Timeline. For what it’s worth, I am one of those who still have the old look. In the beginning, I really didn’t like the idea of having to switch. At this point, it does not really matter to me. What I am thinking is that one might as well take advantage of what the new layout has to offer.
And when it comes to that, the cover photo is one of the things that you can play around with. I have seen many awesome cover photos, and while I am not all worked up about that, it is easy to see how one can play around with customization. Eye candy for the win!
