What do you use your smartphone for most of the time?

Off the top of my head, I say I use my phone for texting and checking Twitter. A close second comes reading ebooks. Making phone calls comes in third, at best, that is.

We probably do not need a study to tell us that many people do not use their smartphones to make a lot of phone calls, but in case you like having proof to back up your statements, there is this study conducted by O2, one of the leading UK mobile networks. How much do you value your smartphone? With how much those things cost these days, it would be silly not to take good care of them. That is, unless you have tons of cash to burn, and you don’t mind. I don’t know if it’s sheer negligence or simple absentmindedness, but it seems that a lot – too much, actually – of smartphones are lost on a daily basis.

I just ran across this infographic detailing the numbers on smartphone loss. Titled “The World of Lost Smartphones”, the infographic is the creation of Lookout Mobile Security. They provide solutions to protect your smartphone – from virus and malware protection to backup and restore functions to location tools. Smartphone Use an Indication of Wealth?

I would never really have thought about it, but a Reuters article got me thinking. ((Source: Reuters)) A study was conducted by The Luxury Institute, with the goal of finding out how wealthy consumers used their smartphones. In other words, they studied the app usage among the members of this sector.

The conclusion? Wealthy people tend to use their smartphones more for apps geared towards finance, travel, and news. They do not seem to have a proclivity for social apps like Twitter or for gaming apps. [Read more…] about Smartphone Use an Indication of Wealth?

Losing your smartphone sucks at best. There is always the issue of maybe having paid an arm and a leg for it. Then there are your phone numbers, messages, photos, videos, and whatever else may be stored on the phone. If you think about it, this data can be even more valuable than the actual price of the phone.
