Ultra-D: No-glasses 3D Technology to Be Launched

December 27, 2011 by noemi

No-glasses 3D
2011 has been a big year for television sets, with many people upgrading their old TVs for the flashier, sleeker, and bigger models. The 3D TVs were also touted to be groundbreaking and were pushed a lot in the market. However, it seemed that the the market for 3D TVs is still in its infancy, with lots of people opting for the non-3D versions for various reasons. I know that personally, the price is a big factor for not going for a 3D TV. Add to that the inconvenience of having to wear 3D glasses in order to enjoy the main “advantage” of this kind of TV, and you have even fewer buyers. More than the inconvenience of having to wear 3D glasses at home, those glasses can cost quite a lot as well!

Now what if 3D TVs have no need for 3D glasses? That is exactly what the company Stream TV Networks is going to launch come the CES this January. They have a new technology, which they call Ultra-D. This display technology is revolutionary in that consumers can actually enjoy all the benefits of 3D without having to don any eye wear. Angry Birds

Angry Birds has gotten old for a lot of people, but tell that to my little nephews who forget all their worries when they hear the Angry Birds theme playing on the iPad. They may not be able to play the game yet, but the mere sound of the music makes them happy. Would that adults be as simple!

Whether or not you are still enticed by the idea of playing what might very well be one of the most successful mobile games, I think that it is hard to deny that the playful theme music is quite irresistible. So irresistible that even the famed London Philharmonic Orchestra decided to play around with the music and give it their own special treatment. Harry Potter Monopoly

Monopoly, the game, is probably one of the most popular board games in the entire world. I am sure it has broken a record or two. One thing I am 100% sure of is that this game has been the source of many an argument between me and my sister. Growing up, some of my most vivid memories of sibling rivalry are associated with a game of Monopoly. Or Boggle.

Anyhow, with the popularity of the board game, it is but inevitable that we see all sorts of versions of Monopoly. This Monopoly version I came across on Reddit is something that will appeal to many of our generation. Perhaps more than all the other versions out there.

TouchFire Keyboard for the iPad

Touch Type on iPad
TouchFire

There is no doubt that the iPad is a groundbreaking device. There may be a host of other tablets in the market today, but the release of the first generation iPad changed how we use mobile devices in a huge way. There are many applications for the iPad. Some find it the best tool for children to learn. Some find it a great way to play games. Others use it to augment their array of devices for work. However way you use the iPad, you might agree that one thing is missing from the picture: the ease of typing using the on-screen keyboard.

Truth be told, the virtual keyboard does not take long to get used to. After all, the iPad keyboard is very responsive, and after using it for a while, you do not really have reason to complain about it. Then again, if you are a touch typist, and you like doing other things (such as watching TV or a movie) while typing away on your device, you might feel the hankering for a keyboard that you can use with more ease. What do you look for in a notebook? Certainly, it depends on what you will be using the device for, but in general, average people will look at the aesthetics and the specs. However, there is a good market for notebooks that can withstand the rigors of unusual use. That is where toughbooks come into the picture.

One of the latest laptops that fall into this category is the Durabook R13C made by GammaTech. In case you are wondering just how tough the Durabook R13C is, think about the United States Military Standard 810G. The Durabook R13C passed this standard and can withstand all sorts of “abuse”, from drops to shocks to spills. It doesn’t end there, though. This laptop can also withstand explosive atmospheres and continue to work in spite of salt, fog, and low temperatures. [Read more…] about GammaTech Durabook R13C
