Mozilla Add-on Collusion

We all know that the Internet is anything but private. Sure, there is still the high degree of anonymity, hence the cyber bullies and people who say things that they wouldn’t dare say to a person’s face. However, there is also the known fact that more and more, entities are watching what we do online. They have various reasons, but Google’s updated privacy policy is blatantly all about gathering data from users in order to better target their advertisements. (Nah, it’s not all about the money. Why would anyone think that?) [Read more…] about Mozilla Add-on Collusion Allows You to Spy on Who’s Watching

Your Guide to Pinterest

Guide to Pinterest
Are you on Pinterest yet? I remember when I first heard of the site some time last year. At that time, I was working on a project that required dealing a lot with images of delectable food. When my boss explained the concept of Pinterest, I was not overly excited, but I did sign up. Sad to say, I didn’t – and don’t – really spend a lot of time on there. One thing is for sure, though: whenever I log in to my account, time does tend to pass by because of those eye-catching images you see everywhere!

So Pinterest is the hottest thing in the online scene it seems. People have been dubbing it the hottest web site in 2012. Others have been calling it the hangout for women who love to look at shoes and clothes and hairstyles. There are men who do spend time on Pinterest looking and pinning at I don’t know what. Some people extol its usefulness. Others say it will die a quick death. [Read more…] about Your Guide to Pinterest

Now aren’t you just envious of them Japanese? Waterproof phones are not a new concept. In fact, people have been thinking of ways to make sure that our favorite devices are kept safe from the harmful effects of water. Remember Liquipel? That technology is meant for existing mobile phones that are not inherently waterproof, though.

This time, Japanese mobile phone manufacturers are stepping things up a notch. They are making mobile phones which are designed to be waterproof and dust-proof. ((Source: PhysOrg)) [Read more…] about In Japan, Waterproof Phones Are the Norm

Dry Cleaner Music: Creativity in Music

Diego Stocco Music
Diego Stocco's Dry Cleaner Music

One of the best lines I have heard from a song is “music is my aeroplane“. No doubt you also know what that song is, and I don’t know about you, but I think that line is just brilliant. The importance of music in life cannot be emphasized enough, and I can’t help feeling sorry for those who cannot appreciate it.

In any case, we all have our tastes in music, and one cannot – and should not – judge others because of this. And whatever kind of music may get you going, I think that you will appreciate what sound artist and composer Diego Stocco has created: dry cleaner music. Power Felt: Fabric to Charge Your Smartphone

Power Felt

Do you still remember those days when you could go for at least three days without having to worry about how much battery juice you still had on your mobile phone? I do, but the memory is quickly fading. Anyone with a smartphone has probably lamented, at least once, about how often he or she has to plug it in. I know people who do not last half a day without having to resort to an additional battery pack.

It sure is a “first world problem”, but having a smartphone really does make you overly concerned about having access to power. Otherwise, you’ll just have a brick in your hands.

Unsurprisingly, scientists have been looking at ways to provide solutions that will be as convenient as possible. One of these is the result of the work of some guys at Wake Forest University. [Read more…] about Power Felt: Fabric to Charge Your Smartphone

The Board of Imagination: Mind-controlled Skateboard

Board of Imagination

Is it just me or are people paying more attention than usual to boards? It was not long ago that we heard about Mattel’s announcement that they will be releasing hoverboards like the one Marty McFly used in the Back to the Future franchise. While that hoverboard is going to be for real, it will not be hovering as one would want it to be. Instead, it will just be skimming over surfaces. Still a not-too-bad idea.

If skimming boards are not enough to make you feel happy, how about a skateboard that rolls over surfaces like any other skateboard, but with a huge plus: a mind-controlled skateboard? [Read more…] about The Board of Imagination: Mind-controlled Skateboard
