Why You Should Care About Web Analytics

June 17, 2013 by DailyBits

Web analytics

You’ve probably heard all about web analytics before. Even the newest kid on the Internet block would have heard at least a little bit about Google Analytics and other similar tools that are “supposed” to help you improve your presence online. Even better, analytic platforms are supposed to be able to help you gain new customers and keep old ones.

If you’re a seasoned online pro, then you need no convincing about the usefulness of web analytics. What you might want, though, is an alternative to what you are using right now. If you’re relatively new to the game, then you’ll want a quick, but practical introduction to your options. Whichever group you belong to, this post has something for you. [Read more…] about Why You Should Care About Web Analytics

May 27, 2013 by DailyBits

The average person spends considerable time on their preferred social networks – Facebook and Twitter topping the list. Depending on the demographics, one can’t ignore Pinterest and Instagram. If, however, you are an online professional, the chances are that you handle many more social media platforms, and probably, you also handle more than one account for each.

For some, juggling time and platforms is an easy task. Sure enough, if you are responsible for only a two to three platforms and the same number of accounts. Still, those little tasks spread all over the place can easily add up and make your job troublesome. The trick is to take advantage of the numerous social media tools out there. May 2, 2013 by DailyBits

Google Glass
Google Glass is speeding ahead towards its release, which is still far away, but it already has unleashed the enthusiasm of many individuals and businesses. The API is in the hands of developers, the first third-party applications are already being tested (such as Twitter), and people like Robert Scoble are convinced that this is the future of personal devices. In short, there is a lot of hype. But is it justified? [Read more…] about Is the Google Glass Hype Too Much?

More Android Phones Activated Than Babies Babies Born

March 27, 2013 by noemi

mobile appeal

On a daily basis, that is. This is one of the most attention-grabbing findings of the New Relic team, which they shared in an infographic titled “Mobile APPeal: Exploring the Mobile Landscape”. It is hard to ignore the fact that the team had the infographic created to promote their app performance management solution services, but the data presented is interesting enough, even to the average user who simply likes going through stats.

So yeah, they claim that there are 1.3 million Android activations, as opposed to 300,000 births. I am not sure if they included the Philippines in their calculations because we do have a lot to contribute to the latter stat. [Read more…] about More Android Phones Activated Than Babies Babies Born

March 25, 2013 by noemi

Microsoft is keeping us busy these days, isn’t it? First we hear about the $100 incentive for Windows developers. Then, over the weekend, Windows lovers were treated to the news that Windows Blue has been leaked. Windows Blue is the next version of the ubiquitous operating system, and an early build has been released, albeit unofficially.

According to Tom Warren of The Verge, “build 9364, a partner version that was originally compiled on March 15th, has been made available on file sharing sites and includes some of the new changes that Microsoft is building into its significant Windows 8 update.”

The Windows Blue leak comes from winforum.eu, where screenshots have been posted. It’s in Polish, but Google Translate can easily take care of that. Plus, images are what counts in this matter anyway. [Read more…] about Windows Blue Leaked!

March 20, 2013 by noemi

Windows is Windows, and whether you love it or you hate it, the platform is not going anywhere. Sure, it will go through changes – lots of them, if Microsoft wants to stay on top of its game – but Windows is here to stay. It does not mean, however, that developers are ultra tempted to create apps for Windows 8 or Windows Phone, especially the latter.

When it comes to mobile apps, iOS is still at the lead but Android is not going to stay quiet about it. As for Windows, they do need more developers to join the fray. And guess what Microsoft is doing to entice Windows developers to create apps?

They’re offering $100 for a single app.
