Finding a job is not always that easy. I know some people who never seem to have a hard time finding a job, but there are some who may take forever. It’s not all about skills and experience all the time, though. Some of those I know who belong to the first group may not have the best credentials, while some who belong to the second group may be some of the most qualified people I know.

Research firm Gartner recently announced that the business intelligence (BI) software industry is slated to grow 16 percent in 2013, to a total of $113 million. As BI continues to flourish, entrepreneurs wonder what trends to expect as 2013 unfolds. It’s not just that this year will see high growth; experts project the total will climb above $171 million by 2016.

What exactly is BI software, and what can it do for businesses? Briefly, BI software is a collection of tools that collects and analyzes data, and generates an array of reports. This kind of data can help companies identify new opportunities and maintain a competitive edge. BI revenues comprise everything from corporate performance management (CPM) software to BI platforms. Analytic applications, which peaked in 2012 at $98.1 million, are also included. [Read more…] about The Business Intelligence Market Continues to Grow

I’m a sucker for health and fitness apps. I suppose that is not a surprise to anyone who knows me, as I do tend to be more obsessive about this topic than the average person. I pay careful attention to what I buy at the supermarket, to what I eat, and to how much physical activity I engage in on a regular basis.

That’s not to say that that’s all I think about. I do like gadgets and technology, too! So yes, unsurprisingly, I’m here to talk about health and fitness apps that will motivate you. [Read more…] about Health and Fitness Apps to Motivate You

Why You Should Care About Web Analytics

June 17, 2013 by DailyBits

Web analytics

You’ve probably heard all about web analytics before. Even the newest kid on the Internet block would have heard at least a little bit about Google Analytics and other similar tools that are “supposed” to help you improve your presence online. Even better, analytic platforms are supposed to be able to help you gain new customers and keep old ones.

If you’re a seasoned online pro, then you need no convincing about the usefulness of web analytics. What you might want, though, is an alternative to what you are using right now. If you’re relatively new to the game, then you’ll want a quick, but practical introduction to your options. In recent years, there has been a spike in the unauthorized use of firearms which has resulted in deaths – both accidental and deliberate. In order to minimize future risks, Yardarm introduced its Safety First technology. This technology allows gun owners to remotely engage or disengage the trigger safety on their firearms from anywhere in the world. In order for this to work, the technology will need to be custom built right inside the firearm.

A sensor and a SIM card, similar to the one used on phones, will be placed inside each handgun and these will enable the gun to communicate with a phone app allowing the gun owner to view information about that firearm from afar.
The technology also alerts the gun owner, either by text (SMS) message or by email, of any movement made by the gun, whether it’s just a minimal change in location or one that involves long distances. The geo-location feature will enable the owner to track the firearm and its movements. Furthermore, this technology gives the owner the ability to engage of disengage the trigger safety remotely. As an added security feature, the app is password protected and in spite of all the advancement, the app cannot be used to fire the gun remotely.
