How much do you value your smartphone? With how much those things cost these days, it would be silly not to take good care of them. That is, unless you have tons of cash to burn, and you don’t mind. I don’t know if it’s sheer negligence or simple absentmindedness, but it seems that a lot – too much, actually – of smartphones are lost on a daily basis.

Pebble: E-Paper Watch Works for iOS and Android

Wristwatches have always been a popular accessory, although I have to admit that I have never been too much into them. While I do appreciate a nice looking watch, I have never felt the urge to get one of those bands for the iPod Nano. I have a feeling that it will look ridiculous, in spite of the countless people who have told me how cool it is to wear one. On the other hand, there are also those who have ranted against the downsides of the iPod Nano as a watch.

Losing a Smartphone Can Cost You More Than You Bargain For

Losing your smartphone sucks at best. There is always the issue of maybe having paid an arm and a leg for it. Then there are your phone numbers, messages, photos, videos, and whatever else may be stored on the phone. If you think about it, this data can be even more valuable than the actual price of the phone.

In Japan, Waterproof Phones Are the Norm

Now aren’t you just envious of them Japanese? Waterproof phones are not a new concept. In fact, people have been thinking of ways to make sure that our favorite devices are kept safe from the harmful effects of water. Remember Liquipel? That technology is meant for existing mobile phones that are not inherently waterproof, though.

Motorola vs. Apple “Slide-to-Unlock” Debacle Solved

I recently saw a car with a slide-to-unlock sticker right next to the door and I immediately thought “Apple.” Although it may seem like this was just a great coincidence that Apple should be recognized for such an image, it seems they had it planned from the beginning.

Apple has stated in a patent that they have the rights to the slide-to-unlock feature; however Samsung’s Galaxy Nexus has recently been trying to employee a similar feature for their new phone. Naturally, Apple pulled out their ammunition in hopes to stop the possible infringement on their German patent. To tell you a little bit about the history of the slide-to-unlock feature:

The other day, we took a look at Liquipel, a process/technology/coating which can protect your iPhone – and several other mobile phone models – from the disaster that is water. While water is definitely one of the worst enemies (if not the worst) of electronic gadgets, scratches are also very much unwanted. After all, who would want a touchscreen phone that is full of scratches? That is what mobile phone cases were made for, right?

Enter Nissan’s self healing iPhone shield. It is actually an iPhone case which has undergone special treatment. Not surprisingly, the special paint that is used on the self healing iPhone shield was originally designed for use for something totally different – for automotive purposes.
