December 5, 2012 by noemi

Bendy Phones
Samsung Bendy Phones

It’s technically called flexible display technology, but saying “bendy phones” is so much more fun, isn’t it?

I don’t have many complaints about my iPhone, but there is something totally appealing about a phone that can bend, twist, and turn in practically any direction without worrying about it not functioning anymore. Put your phone in your jeans pocket or in your bag, and even if you accidentally sit on it, it should accept a reasonable degree of stress.

That’s what bendy phones are all about, and it looks like we might see them in the near future! [Read more…] about Bendy Phones Possibly Coming Out in 2013!

The Lowdown on the Facebook Copyright Status Declaration

November 28, 2012 by noemi

Facebook copyright status declaration
You’ve probably seen the status updates yourself. Probably too much of it in the last few days. Just in case you haven’t, here it is.

In response to the new Facebook guidelines I hereby declare that my copyright is attached to all of my personal details, illustrations, comics, paintings, professional photos and videos, etc. (as a result of the Berner Convention). For commercial use of the above my written consent is needed at all times!
(Anyone reading this can copy this text and paste it on their Facebook Wall. This will place…them under protection of copyright laws. By the present communique, I notify Facebook that it is strictly forbidden to disclose, copy, distribute, disseminate, or take any other action against me on the basis of this profile and/or its contents. The aforementioned prohibited actions also apply to employees, students, agents and/or any staff under Facebook’s direction or control. The content of this profile is private and confidential information. The violation of my privacy is punished by law (UCC 1 1-308-308 1-103 and the Rome Statute).
Facebook is now an open capital entity. All members are recommended to publish a notice like this, or if you prefer, you may copy and paste this version. If you do not publish a statement at least once, you will be tacitly allowing the use of elements such as your photos as well as the information contained in your profile status updates…

Just so you know, this thing has been going around for quite some time now and is definitely not a new thing. For some reason, it was suddenly revived in the past few days, filling Facebook news feeds with legalese.

The question is: Does posting the “Facebook copyright status declaration” actually achieve something? [Read more…] about The Lowdown on the Facebook Copyright Status Declaration

Is Your Computer Killing You
Death by Computer

We’re all dying every second. There’s nothing we can do to stop that, but that does not mean we have to hasten the process, does it?

There are many things we can do to live a (somehow) healthy life, and spending too much time in front of the computer just might not be one of them. However, as with most things in life, we can say that moderation is the key.

Here’s a fun infographic focusing on how your computer just might be killing you. Needless to say, it applies depending on the amount of time you spend in front of your device. [Read more…] about Death By Computer – And How to Avoid It!
