VoiceMan – Real Time Voice Minute Manager

So how are you doing with your iPhone? It may not be the most used phone in the entire world, but it is arguably the most desired phone, thanks to the magic that Steve Jobs has wrought. And speaking of Steve Jobs, did you remember Dress Up Like Steve Jobs Day on Friday? While a long-sleeve black turtleneck seems appropriate for the weather today (at least in my neck of the woods), I didn’t have time to go out and get one, so I had to be satisfied playing with my iPhone and downloading an app that might just make us some savings.

The app is called VoiceMan, and it seems to me that it has a lot of potential to help you monitor just how much your voice calls cost you. With the iPhone, you can do practically everything and more often than not, it is the data usage that gets people in trouble. At least that’s the prevailing idea. Hence, people do pay a lot of attention to their data usage, sometimes at the cost of forgetting about the voice calls. (Of course, if you have unlimited plans, this is not a problem. But how many people actually do have unlimited minutes?) [Read more…] about VoiceMan – Real Time Voice Minute Manager

Google Music Beta Bypasses iOS App Store

Google Music Beta
Google Music Beta
I don’t have much of an issue with using the App Store for the iPhone and iPad. In a way, it makes things easier and simpler for me. However, there are times when I struggle with the App Store – like today. It probably is not Apple’s problem. I actually think it’s my ISP that is to blame. Still, having the option to get content for iOS devices using only the browser is always nice.

And, of course, Google has jumped on this idea and has bypassed the iOS App Store with its latest offering – Google Music Beta. Basically, what happens is that users can directly steam music from the cloud to devices such as the iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad. ((Source))

How is Google doing this? The answer is simple: Google has utilized HTML to create a web interface that is specific to iOS devices. [Read more…] about Google Music Beta Bypasses iOS App Store

5G Wireless Technology Soon to Come?

September 9, 2011 by noemi

Wireless TechnologyIt used to be that I was happy with 3G. It was decent, although not superfast. And for what I need to do while on the road (e.g., check email, check in on Foursquare, check Facebook, and tweet), 3G served its purpose. It still does, depending on the location. However, the places I frequent these days are just so congested that I can even barely check email on my phone at times! I guess I’ll just have to dream about the day 4G actually becomes usable here.

While I am at it, I might as well dream big, though. A new wireless technology – the predecessor of 4G – is almost completed, and if you and I are lucky, we might just get to enjoy it before we die. Not surprisingly, the technology is already being dubbed 5G wireless technology, and it is supposed to double wireless capacity as we know it today. Tomorrow Is Dress Up Like Steve Jobs Day

Here’s one for those of you (oh, that includes yours truly) who have this thing for weird holidays and those who think that everything Steve Jobs touches turns to gold. I don’t know, but there is something about celebrating silly and unofficial holidays. Some may find it ridiculous, but I think that a little ridiculousness in life is necessary every once in a while. Go Down Memory Lane With HP’s Limited Edition Calculators

HP Scientific Calculator
HP Scientific Calculator
What do you remember from your days in college? I remember a whole lot but one of the things that I will never forget is the main “gadget” that I rarely was without. The calculator. I did go through several calculators (which is understandable considering how long I stayed in school), but one thing was the same: they all were scientific calculators. I can’t say that I am obsessed about calculators, but they did serve their purpose and for that, I retain a certain fondness for them. Sure, there are all sorts of virtual calculators to be downloaded for practically any mobile phone (and other similar devices), but you have to admit that there is something about old school that cannot be replaced. Sony 3D Sheet
Sony 3D Sheet

Having your own laptop is no big deal these days. If truth be told, after buying a laptop, one probably spends lots more money on software and accessories. If you are always on the lookout for a new accessory for your beloved laptop, then here is something that you might want: Sony’s new 3D sheet.

While 3D is being touted as being a big thing, it really has not made it to every household that has a TV or a computer yet. You have to admit that watching certain movies in 3D is awesome, but there is the fact that having to wear 3D glasses is such a pain. [Read more…] about Looking For a New Laptop Accessory?
