BlackBerry Tablet to Be Revealed Next Week

June 16, 2023 by noemi

By this time next week, BlackBerry enthusiasts might be buzzing about the latest tablet computer to hit the market – the BlackPad.  The rumor is that RIM (Research in Motion Ltd.) is going to reveal its take on the tablet in San Francisco next week at a developer’s conference.  Needless to say, the news has got certain groups excited.

The tablet, which – according to an insider from RIM – is being dubbed the BlackPad (surprise!).  According to The Wall Street Journal, the BlackPad is going to have a new operating system – one that is totally different from what the current BlackBerry devices are using.  The sources who have leaked the information say that the new OS is built by QNX Software Systems.

More so, the tablet computer is supposed to NOT have the capability to connect to cellular networks on its own; that is, it has to connect to another BlackBerry device to go online.  That’s a seriously major bummer which just might turn potential buyers off, don’t you think?

Other specs (rumored as of now) of the BlackPad include:

  • 7-inch touchscreen
  • camera (one or two, nothing’s confirmed)
  • Bluetooth
  • Broadband connectivity

For sure, BlackBerry users will be keeping their eyes peeled for this new tablet.  With the drawback of not being able to connect to cellular networks, though, I wonder if the BlackPad will appeal to a lot of people who are not currently using BlackBerry?  (Plus consider the fact that the competition is not to be taken lightly.)  We’ll find out soon enough – in a week or so.

Knock-offs from China are nothing to be surprised about, yes? You probably have already heard people saying that in China, you can find knock-off of practically every item that has been manufactured. That may or may not be accurate, but if you are in the market for an alternative to the much raved about Apple iPad (throw in the Samsung tablets in there as well), here’s something you might want to look at.

Say hello to the HaiPad. [Read more…] about Oh, HaiPad!

I don’t know if you are aware of it, but Amazon has maintained a steady place in the tablet market. In fact, it ranks highly in second place, thanks to its Kindle line of e-readers.

You may say whatever you want about the magic of the iPad (I will not disagree), but if you are in the market for a device that might not be as magical but work just as perfectly for certain things, then the Kindle is no doubt an excellent device. Even more so when Amazon launched the Kindle Fire. [Read more…] about Kindle Fire Going on a Diet to Get Slimmer

Or not. It depends on how you see things, of course, but it looks like Google is not going to leave the tablet market alone.

During the Google I/O conference held in San Francisco yesterday, the tech giant showed proof that it has something to say when it comes to tablet computers. While it may not be taking on the iPad (smart!), it certainly seems to be saying something to Kindle. [Read more…] about Google’s Nexus 7 to Challenge Kindle Fire

The tablet wars continue to rage, and it seems that Samsung and Apple remain at the forefront. Ardent fanboys and fangirls will stick to their preferred brands, but in the meantime, there are other players who are not-so-silently entering the game.

A British firm has developed its own tablet, dubbing it the world’s cheapest tablet. Datawind Ltd. released the first version of Aakash in October, primarily targeted at students. It cost as low as $35. You can’t get much cheaper than that, can you? [Read more…] about Meet Aakash: The World’s Cheapest Tablet

How many gadgets do you take with you when you go out? If you are like many people I know, there has to be at least these things in your arsenal: a laptop, a mobile phone, a tablet, an mp3 player, and a camera. Some may forego the tablet and the camera, but the fact that you usually need several gadgets with you can be a burden.

That is why it is not surprising at all that people have been talking about the concept of a single convergence device. In a nutshell, the nature of this device is to put together most, if not all, the gadgets that you normally need. This is exactly what Indian industrial designer Prashant Chandra has come up with.
