Entorhinal Cortex: Remember That If You Want to Strengthen Your Memory

February 9, 2012 by noemi

Strengthen Memory
Alzheimers Stimulation

I have been called forgetful so many times that I do not remember how often it has happened. I have to admit that I do have my Dory ((Finding Nemo)) moments. I am sure you have yours, too. How many times have you forgotten where you have put your keys? I bet you have forgotten where you have parked your car as well. These things do happen to ordinary people, and there is nothing we can do about it. Or is there? [Read more…] about Entorhinal Cortex: Remember That If You Want to Strengthen Your Memory

This little girl is THE man! Clara Lazen, who is only 10 years old, has created a new molecule in science class, albeit accidentally. She lives in Kansas City, Missouri and created the new molecule by chance when her science teacher, Kenneth Boehr, handed out your run-of-the-mill balls and sticks.

Boehr gave his students balls representing the atoms of carbon, nitrogen, and oxygen, presumably to “play” with them. The result of Clara’s “playing” was totally unexpected: the new molecule dubbed Tetranitratoxycarbon. [Read more…] about New Molecule Created By 10-Year-Old

ALON Transparent Aluminum Armor

Is there such a thing as transparent aluminum? Not exactly, but manufacturer Surmet has created something very much like it, and it serves as a protective armor as well. If you are a weapons enthusiast, then this is going to get you all excited.

You may be thinking about bulletproof glass and how it does the job – to a certain degree. Is there really a need for transparent aluminum armor? Definitely! As mentioned, bulletproof glass does work, but in reality, all it really does is to stop some bullets, not all kinds. More so, when you use a lot of bulletproof glass (obviously, the more you use, the better protected you are) on a vehicle, it becomes much heavier. This results in the slowing down of the car. And when you want to get away from gunfire, slow is the last thing that you need! [Read more…] about ALON: Transparent Aluminum Armor

High Tech Computerized Contact Lenses on the Horizon

November 23, 2011 by noemi

Contact Lens

People who have perfect – or near perfect – vision might take their eyesight for granted. For those of us who have had to wear corrective optical equipment for practically our whole lives, the story is a totally different thing. I have been wearing glasses since I was in third grade, and if I could afford it, I would have gotten LASIK a long time ago.

Glasses can be cool, but they can also be a hassle. Thank goodness for contact lenses. Then again, there is the issue of hygiene and prolonged wear. Contact lenses do offer convenience, but it also means a little more taking care of your eyes. [Read more…] about High Tech Computerized Contact Lenses on the Horizon
