3 Tips For Caring For Your Eyes When Using Technology

March 13, 2019 by Fleur Hamilton

While technology has helped to make so many aspects of modern life much easier and more enjoyable, it’s also opened us up to problems that people living before out time never had to deal with in the same way. If used incorrectly, technology, especially through the use of backlit screens, can have some pretty harmful effects on parts of your body. So to help you to protect yourself when you’re using your phone, tablet, computer, and more, here are three tips for caring for your eyes when using technology.

Adjust Your Angles

When you’re eyes are focusing too hard for too long on almost anything, strain and discomfort can happen. But when the thing you’re looking at is relatively small and is shining a light into your eyes, that strain can happen more quickly. One thing you can do to relieve this strain, according to Nathan Bonilla-Warford, a contributor to Mashable.com, is to make sure you’re looking at your device from the proper angle. Regardless of what you’re looking at and what type of size or device you’re using, try to set it at an angle so that you’re looking just slightly downward at it. Move the center of the device so it’s about four to six inches below your eye level and about 24 to 28 inches away from your face. This will have your device situated at the proper place for reducing eye strain.

The Latest Tech To Keep You Safe From Accidents On the Road

March 5, 2019 by Fleur Hamilton

People have different tendencies on the road as far as their experiences go while driving. Some people are outstanding drivers and feel safe and comfortable on the road. Other people are more anxious and have concerns about safety. One of the things that helps to narrow that gap is if you utilize the latest technology to keep you feeling like you are secure in your driving experiences.

You can look at several examples of ways that technology has improved safety on the roads. First, high-quality GPS systems allow people to know where they are instead of having to look at maps. Second, anti-lock brake technology makes accidents less likely where snow and ice are on the road. Third, automatic braking systems help people avoid running into things. And finally, if your car is equipped with roadside assistance technology, that can save you in life-threatening circumstances.

4 Ways Technology Is Making It Safer To Drive

February 26, 2019 by Daniel

Whether you like technology in general or not, there is no denying that it’s helping people stay safer on the road. Streets and highways can be dangerous places, and the more safety features there are incorporated into cars or other vehicles on the road, the safer these places are going to be for everyone. Not everyone can afford the latest tech and devices right away when it comes to these safety advancements, but sooner rather than later, they will be standard issue.

For a few quick ways to learn about how technology is making the roads safer, look into each of the following topics. GPS info in your car helps you know where you are going and helps prevent you from speeding. Proximity sensors let you know when an object is to close your vehicle. Backup cameras make sure you don’t run anything behind you over. And, automated driving technology will prevent you from making all sorts of potential errors driving.

GPS Info

GPS technology is good for several things. First of all, you’ll be safer because you have a turn by turn set of directions to tell you where to go. And, with certain GPS devices, there will be a flashing light warning if you go faster than the speeding limit. As long as you are conscious of that feature, that means that GPS devices can help you avoid speeding tickets.

Proximity Sensors

Another great set of devices that helps keep the road safer would include proximity sensors. In newer cars especially, all of these proximity sensors are already installed. If you get too close to another vehicle or another vehicle gets too close to you, a warning light or a warning sound will indicate to you the danger that is present. After you get used to this safety feature, you’ll wonder how you ever drove around without it.

Backup Cameras

It can be a nightmare when you’re trying to figure out if you can back up safely in your vehicle. You can’t see back there. Or at least you couldn’t see until new technology allowed you to install backup cameras in your car. A simple camera is installed facing backward from your rear bumper, and then what it sees is displayed on a monitor in the front of the vehicle. It’s impossible to tell how many terrible accidents this technology has prevented by being in place last several years.

Automated Driving Technology

Finally, automated driving technology is slowly working its way into the consumer atmosphere. Some of this technology means that breaks will be automatically engaged in instances where a human driver can’t react fast enough. Another technology allows a computer to take over steering if an object is in the path of the vehicle.

Technology To Prevent Injuries and Accidents

February 26, 2019 by Daniel

One of the best uses of technology is to make everyday life safer. Obviously, tech is great for work reasons and entertainment reasons, but if the priority is to prevent injuries and accidents in normal day-to-day activities, then that is a good thing for everyone.

With that in mind, it’s good that lots of technology that’s coming out will be used for precisely this purpose. Think of the fact that many robots are coming to prevent human injuries. The latest technology also allows big data to be utilized to figure out what kinds of injuries are most common and where they come from. There are also high-speed sensors and processing in place that incorporate into what would otherwise be dangerous machinery. And finally, technology just in general leads to better safety equipment because of more intelligent and better construction.

The Robots Are Coming

At the very height of technology, robotics and automation are coming to manufacturing situations where they were never possible before. So, that means that a lot of the most dangerous jobs the people have done in the past will soon be taken over by robots that can’t be harmed. Even though some people will lament this is a loss of jobs for people, the fact that it is improving safety and preventing injuries is well worth that transition.

Big Data Statistics

New technology means that big data statistics are more available than ever as well. By having artificial intelligence and smart processors analyze injury and accident statistics, scientists and researchers can have a much better idea of how to improve safety across the board for human workers.

High-Speed Sensors

There is lots of new technology that involves high-speed sensors installed in dangerous equipment as well. As an example, new safety measures are being put into certain kinds of industrial equipment where something sharp runs into the wrong type of material it will automatically shut off and disengage. This kind of technology prevents personal injuries that can lead to terrible situations and lawsuits later on down the line.

Better Safety Equipment

In general, better technology leads to better safety equipment. Think of the example of hard hats or helmets. If scientists and researchers are continually developing hats and masks that fit better and are made out of stronger and lighter materials, that will immediately lead to fewer significant head injuries. Anytime there is a construction site, if a certain technology is used to improve safety equipment like helmets, vests, or even boots, those kinds of modifications mean fewer worker injuries. And for every prevented injury, that means the company that hires the workers will not have to pay for any compensation, and their workers will feel much better about the safety of their situations as well.
