February 8, 2018 by Fleur Hamilton

In this modern age, the world of dating has changed entirely. Once upon a time, people would insert a single ad into the local newspaper in hopes of someone finding it and contacting them for a connection. Or you’d simply walk up to someone in a bar and ask to buy them a drink.

While these sorts of styles of meeting people still exist, it’s becoming more and more common to use online dating applications and websites in order to meet your significant other. In a recent survey, 19% of married couples said that they met online.

If you’re looking to give online dating a whirl, but aren’t sure how to create the best profile, here are some of the best tips to get you started. [Read more…] about 4 Tips For Creating Your Online Dating Profile

February 8, 2018 by Fleur Hamilton

When it comes to insurance, most people are vaguely aware that it’s a good idea to have it. But beyond that, there are a lot of different details to look into to make sure that you aren’t surprised if something happens where you actually have to make an insurance claim. Ideally, you’ll never have to claim anything. You’ll live a life where no catastrophic incident occurs, and will happily have put into your financial safety net without ever having to take anything out.

However, that’s not always the case. And if you do have to make an insurance claim, it’s important to know how major disaster coverage works, how specific cases are handled, what the time to pay-out is going to be, and how the dynamic between insurance companies and the insured typically works. A Few Ins and Out of Jail Time

January 10, 2018 by Fleur Hamilton

Hopefully, you’ll never have to deal with the jail system. You’ll never personally go to jail. None of your friends will ever go to jail. No person that you know will ever get stuck in a concrete and metal cage and lose their freedom for any amount of time as a method of punishment. However, that’s not necessarily realistic. At some point, you should probably understand a few basic pieces of information about jails and how they work.

Some categories of thought you should research include learning about bail bonds, knowing how County jail works, understanding the federal prison system, and then knowing how for-profit correctional facilities fit into the mix. Ideally, you’ll be able to keep away from all of these institutions, but at least knowing the basic framework can’t hurt on a theoretical level.

Bail Bonds

How many movies have you seen where someone gets in trouble and one phone call that they make is to call a family member or friend and ask if they can post bail? This is an exchange of money so that a person can go free. It’s kind of like a financial insurance policy, and a promise that you will show up in court when you’re supposed to. You can’t post bail, that means you have to stay in lockup most likely until your court date. There are lots of variations on this theme, but that’s the general idea.

County Jail

For small offenses, people will typically end up in the county jail. This idea is occasionally romanticized in the movies or on TV, but it’s still probably not going to be a pleasant experience. Depending on the size of your county, you could end up in a large or small area with a lot of people were very few. Getting processed in county jail will give you some indication about the next step in your legal proceedings.

Federal Prison

For people who commit more severe crimes, or for people who commit crimes across state lines, federal prison is going to be your ultimate destination. When you begin finding out how federal prison works, it should pretty much steer you straight into never wanting to end up in that situation. Federal criminality is a whole new ballgame when it comes to the justice system.

For-Profit Correctional Facilities

There’s a lot of attention being paid recently to the idea of for-profit correctional facilities. The military-industrial complex that has evolved with the justice system has created an opening for private prisons essentially. These facilities are owned by companies, and they operate at a profit. The federal government does not own these facilities, and there are lots of questions as to conflict of interest concerning how inmates are treated, and how sentencing can affect profit margins for these companies.

3 Tips for Taking Better Care of The Pipes At Your Home or Business

January 8, 2018 by Fleur Hamilton

Regardless of whether you’re worried about the pipes and pumping systems of your business or your home, it’s important to know the best ways to take care of these types of infrastructure as to avoid bigger problems in the future. But for most people who haven’t been trained as plumbers, even a basic knowledge of pipes and plumbing can sometimes be lost. So to help ensure you’re taking the best possible care of your pipes, here are three tips to help with plumbing maintenance at home or at your business.

Avoid Using Chemical Products

While this may seem like the best way to get a quick fix when you have a clogged pipe or drain, Joe Bousquin, a contributor to House Logic, recommends that you never use chemical drain-clearing products if you can help it. When you pour these products down your pipes, they can often cause more harm than good. And if the integrity of your pipes are slowly compromised as a result of using chemical clearing agents, you will end up with much bigger issues to deal with in the not-so-distant future. So rather than going with this option, either try to clear the blockage manually yourself or call in a professional.
