Geek’s Dream Girl

April 6, 2011 by noemi 5 Comments

Geek's Dream Girl
It looks like the stereotype for the love-hungry geek is not about to disappear anytime soon. If websites and games are any indication, then people still do think that geeks can use all the help they can get when it comes to dating and relationships. There was Cupidtino – the dating site specifically for Apple geeks. Soon, there will be Cloud Girlfriend.

But have you heard of Geek’s Dream Girl? ((Geek’s Dream Girl)) Strictly speaking, this web site is not a dating site. The services that they offer do cater to geeks who are looking to online dating sites to find a partner: “Geek’s Dream Girl is a small business focusing on online dating profile writing for geeks, by geeks. We’re copywriters that know how to make geek guys shine and attract those ever-elusive girls!”

Basically, they’re geeks who are good at spinning words so that they can make you look good online. I guess they are assuming that geeks may not have the skills to come up with a profile that will get the attention of their dream partner. And once you have gotten her/his attention, it is up to you to make things work. Oh, they do profiles for girls, too.

Don’t get me wrong – I can see the value in the service they provide, but the premise might just be wrong. I do believe that there are “geeks” out there who can write kick-a#$ copy that will make any girl/guy drool. More so, if the “geek” is indeed challenged when it comes to communicating, how will he get further than the online profile? The site must be doing something right, though, as they have been in the business since 2008.

Has anyone tried Geek’s Dream Girl yet?

Thanks for the write-up, Noemi! I would have been glad to do an interview with you so you could have had more detailed information about our services and our success stories. 🙂 Maybe next time?

As a client of Geek’s Dream girl, I can say it’s been a big help. I’m sure that if I really thought about it, I could have written something similar to the profile E helped me craft…maybe. Probably not.
I’m shy (a trait many geeks share, but certainly not unique to geeks), so writing about myself is difficult. I found that I would hyperfocus on small details about myself, be it computers or WoW and would pretty much only write about that. Can be kind of a turnoff to someone who’s not really into that.

What E did was…I guess translate my geeky interests, passions, and hobbies and spin it in such a way that anyone could read it and find out about what makes me tick. A fellow geek (geekette?) would pick up on my geeky side, while someone who isn’t so geeky would see how many interests I have and how passionate about them I can be (even if they don’t share them)

What does E, as my sister has put it, is put me in the same room as someone. The rest is up to us.

Commenters 2 & 3 work for the website and with their “cheapest” package being nearly a C note. That coupled with the despairing desire of their demographic to have a significant other or to a less extent just get laid. I have had more than one friend get their money stolen from this site and are still single and sad to add also still virgins. Shame, just shame on them.
