3 Tips For Caring For Your Eyes When Using Technology

March 13, 2019 by Fleur Hamilton

While technology has helped to make so many aspects of modern life much easier and more enjoyable, it’s also opened us up to problems that people living before out time never had to deal with in the same way. If used incorrectly, technology, especially through the use of backlit screens, can have some pretty harmful effects on parts of your body. So to help you to protect yourself when you’re using your phone, tablet, computer, and more, here are three tips for caring for your eyes when using technology.

Adjust Your Angles

When you’re eyes are focusing too hard for too long on almost anything, strain and discomfort can happen. But when the thing you’re looking at is relatively small and is shining a light into your eyes, that strain can happen more quickly. One thing you can do to relieve this strain, according to Nathan Bonilla-Warford, a contributor to Mashable.com, is to make sure you’re looking at your device from the proper angle. Regardless of what you’re looking at and what type of size or device you’re using, try to set it at an angle so that you’re looking just slightly downward at it. Move the center of the device so it’s about four to six inches below your eye level and about 24 to 28 inches away from your face. This will have your device situated at the proper place for reducing eye strain.

If at the very least you follow those three tips, you’ll be doing much better than other people who try to start something in the tech industry without having any background intelligence behind them.

Incorporation Types

Before you can start doing business, especially as a tech-centered company, you need to incorporate your company. It has to have a name, and it has to have a way of doing taxes. There are several different methods of incorporation, and the one you choose will often have to deal with what kind of product or service you’re selling, and how liable your personal finances are if your company loses money or goes bankrupt. Incorporation is reasonably straightforward, but you do want to make sure you get the details right before you get started as opposed to once you are already moving forward.

Following Tech Trends

It comes as no surprise that if you want to start a tech company, you should know what current tech trends are. For people who are trying to start businesses now, looking at the latest news in artificial intelligence is going to be key. Incredible things are happening in this field right now, and it would be realistic to predict that the next significant tech trends are all going to incorporate artificial intelligence somehow. If there is a way to have software intelligently make decisions about products and services, and if that can be done cost-effectively, then everyone wins.

Understanding the Competition

One of the things that you want to make sure to do if you’re planning on starting a tech company is to understand the competition. Who are you going to be fighting against with your products? You need to make a very detailed business plan using all of the latest available search resources so that you know you’ll be moving into a field where you have at least some chance of survival.

3 Ways To Use Social Media To Help You Build Better Relationships With Clients

February 1, 2019 by Fleur Hamilton

If you’re a business owner, there are tons of ways that you can use modern technology to make running your business easier. Especially with the ubiquity of the Internet, it’s now so easy to get customers or clients from all over the world and keep in contact with them on a very regular basis. However, if you’re not used to this type of communication, or if you’re struggling to find ways that you can move beyond just a surface-level relationship, you might not know where to start or what pieces of technology to use for your advantage. So to help point you in the right direction, here are three ways you can use social media to help you build better relationships with your clients.

Be Quick To Respond

While social media can make it easier for you to better content with your clients or customers, it can also be something that creates alienation within your relationships if you’re not careful. One way this alienation can manifest is if you’re not as responsive as your clients think you should be when they reach out to you via social media. According to Dominique Jackson, a contributor to Sprout Social, you should try to respond to all contact on social media in less than four hours. But if you run a company where your clients need immediate help, like a property management company, you should try to have even faster response times whenever possible.

Create An Online Community

To really move beyond just a basic business-client relationship, you have to make it easy for your clients to see you as more than just a basic business. One way you can use social media to do this, according to Mike Templeman, a contributor to Forbes.com, is to create an online community with your followers. You can either do this literally, like by creating a Facebook community page, or figuratively. If you do choose to create a figurative online community with your followers, try to post or share things that relevant to their lives or helpful in some way without being promotional.

Express Gratitude For Positive Interactions

Social media can be a great way for your clients to get to know you on a more personal level. Today, many people love to reach out to businesses through social media in order to get their thoughts heard or share something that’s important to them. If and when this happens with your clients, Keith Quesenberry, a contributor to Social Media Examiner, recommends that you express your gratitude for their comments or give them a shout out to show that you hear them and are grateful for their positive participation with your business.

If you want to build better relationships with your clients via social media, consider using the tips mentioned above to show you how you can do just that.
