Futuristic Lamps
Eclipse Lamp

Everyone has their dream home. While your dream home in its full glory may not be within your reach at the moment, you can always build it up little by little. And one of the ways to do that is to purchase furniture that you can see yourself owning and loving for decades.

When it comes to furniture, lamps are some of the most delightful things you can collect. Not only do they give you the lighting that you want in your rooms, they can also give you eye candy if you choose properly.

I recently discovered two wonderful lamps that would suit lovers of science fiction for they look as if they had come from the future. Then again, today is only yesterday’s future. What’s even cooler about these futuristic lamps is that they are easily incorporated into most modern interior designs, and yes, their appeal can last for many, many years. Stylus capacitive screen
Fylus

I don’t know about you, but I have sweaty fingers sometimes. Recently, it has gotten so bad that I would be so irritated all day while working. Not only does it not feel good, it also hinders the smooth use of my trackpad, which they say is the best there is!

Now imagine me taking a break to play Fruit Ninja or Sushi Chop on the iPad. After a few seconds of swiping the screen with my fingers like a lunatic, I would just give up because of the sweaty finger issue! I had been thinking of all sorts of solutions to this problem when I stumbled upon a brilliant idea: stick-on stylus that can be used on capacitive screens. Five Ridiculously Expensive Gadgets That You Probably Don’t Need (But Want)

October 18, 2011 by DailyBits Leave a Comment

There are approximately 37,978,000 millionaires in the entire world. That might seem like a pretty huge figure at first. But considering the fact that the entire world population is now close to or has surpassed 7 billion, well, that doesn’t seem like a very large number after all. And of these millionaires, only a handful actually belong to the “filthy rich” category–meaning they can spend hundreds of thousands or even millions of dollars without making a dent on their wealth.

Porn Stick to Help Parents Monitor Children’s Data Consumption

November 18, 2010 by noemi 1 Comment

They could have chosen a more imaginative – or less provocative – name, but yes, the Porn Stick is something that will make doubting parents feel more secure. Heck, even doubting partners can benefit from this device. Forget keyloggers. Forget all those pieces of software that you need to install in stealth mode. This nifty thing – and others in the same line of products – can easily scan a computer and find “deleted” pornographic images and delete them.

The target market is mainly parents who want to ensure that their children are not doing anything “unsuitable” online. We all acknowledge the fact that the Internet has brought about so many good things, but there is also that dark side that not many are willing to face head on. And, of course, with children being able to access practically everything that an adult can, the dangers online can be as real as the dangers in real life.

Then there is the Chat Stick. Quite obviously, this devices targets messages sent and received via instant messengers. The iRecovery Stick, on the other hand, is more specific to the iPhone.

They all work towards the same general goal: identifying and deleting items which are deemed unsuitable. Now who determines what’s suitable or not remains a big question. There is also the question of ethics if these devices were to be used on another “self-sufficient” adult, but that is not really none of this blog’s concern, is it? 😉

Bottom line: if you need something to check up on your kids, you might want to check these devices out. Informational video below.

Mind Control: The Future of Our Gadgets

September 16, 2010 by noemi Leave a Comment

Do you think the way your smart phone changes the display orientation when you flip it is cool?  Or maybe you have lots of fun playing around with voice commands.  I’m sure that your smart phone can do a lot of awesome stuff, but that’s nothing when compared to what Intel is working on.  If they make any progress on what they call “context-aware computing,” we just might be playing with gadgets that can read our minds!

When I first read about context-aware computing, I mentally shouted “Scary!”  At the same time, I cannot suppress the surge of excitement.  This technology is BIG.  The scary part, I think, is the result of watching/reading too much science fiction – that, and the recent news about lying robots.

So anyway, a group of Intel researchers announced that they are working on this technology that will ultimately be able to gather and process information from the behavior of the user.  This data will then be used to predict the mood and the feelings of the user.  Based on the predictions, the gadgets will be able to provide suggestions.  Pretty cool, huh?

Justin Rattner, head of the research group excitedly shared the potential of this technology:

“Future devices will learn about you, your day, where you are and where you are going to know what you want. It gives devices almost this sixth sense of anticipating what a user will need in the future, whether that’s the next few moments or at dinner later in the day.”

If I were the user, the gadget will not have too many problems in predicting what I will need:  Chocolate, steak, and Jack Daniels.
