Coca-Cola is testing the effectivity of social media anew when it comes to establishing a branding campaign. And their latest foray? – none other than a Facebook App called Facial Profiler which could either rock on to your senses and make you believe that it’s actually cool to drink Coke Zero or simply annoy you out of your wits for adding to the Facebook noise.
Ok, the last part of the statement is my own personal opinion of this rampant practice on Facebook wherein users are getting overly fond of sharing every apps they try with to their Facebook friends.
Anyway Coke Zero Facial Profiler borders on innovativeness and plain impossibility. Coca-Cola wants to establish that in terms of taste, Coke Zero tastes just like the regular coke. That’s all into this social media campaign really.
But if you’re still interested to know, the Coke Zero Facial Profiler app works something like this. After installing the app, it will then detects your Facebook profile photos and your photo albums. You will then need to take another photo of yourself and then adjust it to make your eyes prominent. This of course to allow the app to find your best look-alike from among the Facebook users who are using the app.
Then sit back, relax and wait for the app to work and find your best match in terms of how you look like. In the meantime, Coca-Cola will shower you with ads promoting Coke Zero.
Clever way to make a viral ad campaign? In a way yes.
