The ForeverGeek Kickstarter Store Makes It Easy for Online Shoppers

November 13, 2013 by noemi Leave a Comment

Online shopping is the best thing since sliced bread!

Not only do you get to find everything and anything (which you may or may not need), but you don’t have to get out of your PJs to do some shopping. A couple of clicks are all you need, and you’re good to go!
ForeverGeek Kickstarter Store
If you’re an online shopping enthusiast like me, then you probably already have sniffed out Kickstarter as a source of cool stuff. While it’s technically a crowdfunding site, Kickstarter does offer the online shopper a lot of options. It goes one step further by giving you the opportunity to be “in” at the earliest stages: by being a backer and getting earlybird perks.

One thing about Kickstarter, though, is that you never know if a project is going to get funded. Frustration can kick in if a project that you really want to happen does not reach its goals.

Our sister site, ForeverGeek, has come up with something that can somehow help alleviate that frustration: the ForeverGeek Kickstarter Store. [Read more…] about The ForeverGeek Kickstarter Store Makes It Easy for Online Shoppers

The NSA and Your Mobile Phone

September 10, 2013 by noemi Leave a Comment

mobile phone
It’s the era of spying, monitoring, and of course, whistleblowers. We’ve had so many news items on governments making sure that they know what’s going on – hence the monitoring of practically all kinds of communication. We’ve also had quite a few high profile cases wherein people in the know have come public.

What’s the truth?

Remember, there are always at least two sides to a story, and the average person will probably never get to know the whole picture, but I think it’s pretty safe to say that the government is keeping tabs on what’s floating in the airwaves – or cables, for that matter. Whether you send an email or a text message or make a phone call, the chances are that there might be someone else listening in. [Read more…] about The NSA and Your Mobile Phone

More Android Phones Activated Than Babies Babies Born

mobile appeal

On a daily basis, that is. This is one of the most attention-grabbing findings of the New Relic team, which they shared in an infographic titled “Mobile APPeal: Exploring the Mobile Landscape”. It is hard to ignore the fact that the team had the infographic created to promote their app performance management solution services, but the data presented is interesting enough, even to the average user who simply likes going through stats.

So yeah, they claim that there are 1.3 million Android activations, as opposed to 300,000 births. I am not sure if they included the Philippines in their calculations because we do have a lot to contribute to the latter stat. [Read more…] about More Android Phones Activated Than Babies Babies Born

Windows Blue Leaked!

March 25, 2013 by noemi Leave a Comment

Microsoft is keeping us busy these days, isn’t it? First we hear about the $100 incentive for Windows developers. Then, over the weekend, Windows lovers were treated to the news that Windows Blue has been leaked. Windows Blue is the next version of the ubiquitous operating system, and an early build has been released, albeit unofficially.

According to Tom Warren of The Verge, “build 9364, a partner version that was originally compiled on March 15th, has been made available on file sharing sites and includes some of the new changes that Microsoft is building into its significant Windows 8 update.”

The Windows Blue leak comes from winforum.eu, where screenshots have been posted. It’s in Polish, but Google Translate can easily take care of that. Plus, images are what counts in this matter anyway. [Read more…] about Windows Blue Leaked!

The Real Superhero Power of Technology

March 22, 2013 by noemi Leave a Comment

There’s no doubt about it – the human race will forever have a fixation on anything superhero-related. Superheroes may take on different faces and have different powers depending on the culture and era, but the concepts remain the same. I suppose that it’s one of the not-so-basic human needs: to have these mythical creatures to look up to. Whether it’s escapism or idealism at work, I don’t really know.

But did you know that ideas from superhero stories have found their way to real life? I’m not talking about Kick Ass (although that’s still not real life, I know), but I just saw this infographic from Visually which showcases real-life technology based on superhero stories, and I think you’ll appreciate it too. Windows Developer? Earn $100 for Your New App From Microsoft!

March 20, 2013 by noemi Leave a Comment

Windows is Windows, and whether you love it or you hate it, the platform is not going anywhere. Sure, it will go through changes – lots of them, if Microsoft wants to stay on top of its game – but Windows is here to stay. It does not mean, however, that developers are ultra tempted to create apps for Windows 8 or Windows Phone, especially the latter.

When it comes to mobile apps, iOS is still at the lead but Android is not going to stay quiet about it. As for Windows, they do need more developers to join the fray. And guess what Microsoft is doing to entice Windows developers to create apps?

They’re offering $100 for a single app.
