Amazon is really gearing up for battle against Barnes and Noble’s Nook eReader and the other eReaders are threatening to stole Amazon’s success in the e-book market. Aside from lowering the price of its Kindle International version to $259, Amazon just announced that it will soon be releasing the – “Kindle for PC” application.Kindle for PC app adds up to the two other official ways of storing, downloading and reading e-book purchases you made from the Amazon Kindle store. The other two are the iPhone Kindle app and of course the Kindle reader itself.
What’s interesting about Kindle for PC app is that it syncs with the Kindle devices and iPhone app. So it doesn’t matter whether you are reading a book on your Kindle or on your iPhone or PC. You can go back to the last pages you’ve read or immediately proceed to the pages you’ve bookmarked.
The key features of Kindle for PC are as follow:
- Purchase, download and read hundreds of thousands of books available in the Kindle Store
- Access the entire library of previously purchased Kindle books stored on Amazon’s servers for free
- 10 different font sizes and words to choose
- Add and automatically synchronize bookmarks and last page read
- View notes and highlights marked on Kindle and Kindle DX
- Zoom in and out of text with a pinch of the fingers (for Windows 7 users)
- Turn pages with a finger swipe
Kindle for PC will be available as a free download next month.
