How Fast Do You Type?
Do you think you type faster than the average person? Now you can test it out. 10-Fast-Fingers Speedtest is a simple web tool that tests how fast you type. You will be presented with some words and a form to type them. The objective is to type as many correct words as possible within 60 seconds.

My record so far is 359 points, which translates into 476 characters per minute. It is not bad, but I am a two-fingers typist, and I am pretty sure I could improve that rate if I learned to touch type (where you use all the fingers).
Apparently the goal of the creators of this tool was to promote their touch typing online course in fact. They have some interactive lessons and tests that are supposed to get you started with touch typing. I am going through it right now, so I will keep you guys updated if my typing speed increases.

I got 452 on my first shot. However, I can generally type faster on a desktop keyboard (on a Dell laptop) and with complete thoughts… it throws me off to have to think of each word individually.
I got a small 186 (260 characters per minute). But i think because i am french, i am not used to type fast in english. I have to read each characters in each words before typing.
Jake, do you touch type?
I was able to hit over 100 words / minute after a couple of warm-up attempts. The non-sensicle sentences are a little challenging, although since it’s been over 10 years since I last did a typing test and more than doubled my speed average (45 words / minute in high school) I shouldn’t really complain. Laptop keyboards with their smaller distance per stroke probably also helps that.
I got 167 points - 238 characters per minute from the first try
Now back to practicing, thanks Daniel for posting!
Solid link! Much thanks!
270 points and 417 characters per minute on my first try. This is really cool and will give me something to do nowadays. Thanks for the awesome site.
Great link… Also for those who would want to use a plain old typewriter software, Stamina Typing Tutor is a must try. You get to read a lot of great quotes too
